The Federal Government of Nigeria has formally endorsed the upcoming West Africa Industrialisation, Manufacturing and Trade (IMT) Summit and Exhibition 2025.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to boosting regional industrial growth, strengthening local manufacturing, and deepening economic cooperation across West Africa.
The endorsement was conveyed through the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, ahead of the summit scheduled to take place from October 21 to 23, 2025, in Lagos.
Speaking on the development, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Enoh, stated that Nigeria’s support for the summit reflects the Tinubu administration’s Nigeria First policy, which prioritises the use of locally manufactured goods in public procurement.
“This commitment aligns with the mandate of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, highlighting the nation’s dedication to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities and expanding trade opportunities across the continent,” Enoh said.
The endorsement comes as other West African nations pursue similar policies. Ghana has mandated local product usage in public procurement, while Senegal is implementing strategic industrial policies, including subsidies and improved power supply, to support sectors like textiles and food processing.
