Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has voluntarily reported himself to the Lagos State Police Command following a viral video that allegedly showed him holding a firearm during an encounter with a passerby in Lagos.
Naija News reports that the development was confirmed on Tuesday by the state police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, via a WhatsApp message to Vanguard.
CSP Hundeyin stated that the cleric showed up at the Police Headquarters in Ikeja, where he is currently undergoing interrogation by detectives.
Hundeyin said, “No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated.
“They have commenced an investigation into the case following the emergence of a video showing the pastor holding a gun-like object toward another road user while driving in an unregistered vehicle.”
He added that the outcome of the investigation would be made public in due course.
The controversy began after a short video clip surfaced online last week, capturing the prominent pastor holding what appeared to be a metallic object during an exchange with a man recording him on a public road.
The footage quickly spread across social media, prompting widespread speculation that Pastor Adefarasin was brandishing a firearm.
In response to the uproar, Adefarasin took to his social media handles over the weekend to clear the air. He dismissed claims that he wielded a firearm, describing the incident as a misunderstanding.
The cleric explained, “The object in my hand was not a gun. At no point did I point it at anyone.”
He did not specify the nature of the object but expressed concern about the false narrative spreading online.
