Olympiacos left-back, Bruno Onyemaechi, has expressed excitement ahead of what promises to be a defining season in his career, with the Nigerian defender set to feature in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the 2025-2026 campaign.
Onyemaechi joined Olympiacos from Portuguese outfit Boavista in January and quickly settled into the squad, making nine league appearances and contributing an assist as the Greek giants clinched the league title. He also played in their Greek Cup final triumph over OFI Crete.
Now preparing for Europe’s premier club competition, the 26-year-old told TVC News: “It’s a very big season because I’ll be playing in the Champions League for the first time. I’m looking forward to this, I hope I’m prepared for it, and I hope I’m injury free also.”
While Onyemaechi eyes his European breakthrough, another star making waves on the transfer front is Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who is now being hotly pursued by Juventus, amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
Reports from Corriere dello Sport indicate that Juventus have tabled a lucrative offer to the 27-year-old Swede, willing to meet his reported wage demands of £11 million per year.
The Italian side is also said to be preparing a formal transfer of over £60 million, hoping to beat their Premier League rivals to Gyokeres’ signature.
Gyokeres, who had an outstanding season with Sporting, has previously been linked with a move to the Emirates, with Mirror Football suggesting the striker’s preference was Arsenal.
However, the Gunners’ interest appears to have cooled due to Sporting’s tough stance on negotiations and the club’s insistence on the full release clause.
Sporting President Frederico Varandas has denied claims of a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ that would allow Gyokeres to leave for a discounted fee, and even accused the player’s agent of “playing games,” further complicating matters.
With Arsenal also pursuing RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and Manchester United now turning their attention to Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt, Juventus are hoping to capitalise on the uncertainty and bring Gyokeres to Turin.
