President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency and suspension of Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, and the assembly members are no longer news. Nyesom Wike responded by stating that he had never desired a state of emergency. According to him, the president decided to prevent the impeachment of the governor of Rivers State.
According to Nyesom Wike, the president alone has the authority to choose when the emergency rule would be repealed. Additionally, he made it clear that he has no problem with Fubara. As stated by Nyesom Wike, “If Mr President had called me before declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State, I wouldn’t have agreed” .
