“My dad is a pastor. I grew up in the church. I used to play drums from as early as three years old—my leg wasn’t touching the pedal. My mom used to play the guitar, the keyboard, the violin. Music was right in front of me, but I wasn’t paying too much attention to it. I was just doing it because it was in front of me,” he recalled.
He continued, “If our drummer wasn’t around, I’d quickly play the drum. When the keyboardist wasn’t around, I’d play the keyboard. I was born into the church, I didn’t have a choice—Sunday service, weekly service, night vigil, I was there”.
He also talked about his early love for football: “I really wanted to play football when I was in high school. My dad used to play football when he was young, so he would come to school, pick me up, drop me on the field. But then I started making friends who were into music, and somehow I found myself in the studio”.
Young Jonn explained how he started producing: “My elder brother and cousin, we started rapping, doing freestyle battles in church. We started looking for original beats to rap on. A friend told me about Fruity Loops, and that’s how I started producing”.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
